Illustrierter Beobachter – No 36, 1930

£30.00

This is an original copy of the Illustrierter Beobachter (Illustrated Observer), the NSDAP’s official weekly and highly illustrated publication covering party activities, ideology, culture and social events from a National Socialist point of view.

Description

This issue from 1930 is in fair to good condition with some age-related tanning throughout, some dirt marks on the cover (see photos) and scuffing to page edge at spine.

There are also two small pieces cut out – see photos. I will include a photocopy of the two pages effected by this from my own copy of this issue.

The cover illustration’s of a SA drummer and is captioned Auf Zum Sturm – roughly ‘Into battle’

Cartoons inside by ‘Mjoelnir’ (Hans Schweitzer) who is best known for his cartoons, illustrations and depictions of SA men in Goebbels newspaper, Der Angriff.

Plus six cartoons by Fips, Philipp Rupprecht, whose anti-Semitic caricatures of Jews for the Der Stürmer newspaper would become infamous in later years. Also featured in this issue is a full-page on Julius Streicher, the editor and publisher of Der Stürmer
