Illustrierter Beobachter- No 42, 1930

This is an original copy of the Illustrierter Beobachter (Illustrated Observer), the NSDAP’s official weekly and highly illustrated publication covering party activities, ideology, culture and social events from a National Socialist point of view.

This issue from 1930, its 5th year of publication, is in fair to good condition though with some heavy staining and age-related tanning at the top of the cover and scuffing to page edges, otherwise, it’s fine.

The cover illustration is by Fips (Philipp Rupprecht – who became notorious for his virulently antisemitic caricatures of Jews in Der Stürmer newspaper) and shows an Austrian Nazi chiselling a Swastika symbol onto a wooden crucifix in celebration of November 9th with the headline ‘Germany Awakening in Austria too!

There are also cartoons inside by ‘Mjoelnir’ (Hans Schweitzer) who is best known for his illustrations and depictions of SA men in Goebbels newspaper, Der Angriff.
