Die Kunst im Dritten Reich – No 3, March 1939 – 3rd Year
Originally called Die Kunst im Dritten Reich (Art in the Third Reich) the title was changed in August 1939 to Die Kunst in Deutschen Reich. The last published issue was September 1944.
This issue includes an 11-page feature on the newly built ‘Kameradschafthaus’ houses. These were essentially institutions set up by the National Socialist German Student Union (NSDStB) under Oskar Stäbel where the primary aim was the training of students to be Nazi functionaries. Initially intended as all-male establishments, though women were not specifically excluded, by 1943, with a student population of some 25,000, some 50% of attendees were women, with women in the majority in science subjects.
