Die Pause

Die Pause (The Interval) was published in Vienna from 1935 through to issue No 9, 1944.

All issues had a National Socialist cultural slant but from 1938 when Germany annexed Austria Die Pause became a leading proponent of Nazi high art. Covering all aspects of culture including painting, sculpture, theatre and literature as well as cultural ideology. Die Pause used stunning photography and striking layouts to great effect in championing its cause.

Less well known than many German arts publications from the Third Reich period, Die Pause, offers a unique glimpse into bourgeois Nazism.
